Mr Matthew Sammut is a Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in Colorectal and Gastrointestinal Surgery. He graduated in Medicine in 2007 and was admitted to the Specialist Register in General Surgery in 2019.

He holds Fellowships from the European Board of Surgery in General Surgery (FEBS) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS), as well as the European Board of Surgery Fellowship in Coloproctology. He also holds an MSc in Advanced Surgical Practice from Cardiff University.

In addition to his surgical training in Malta, Mr Sammut undertook further specialist training in the UK, including at NHS Lothian in Edinburgh and Liverpool University Hospitals, where he gained advanced experience in colorectal, emergency and trauma surgery.

Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in surgical education and training, is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Malta, and has published and presented his work at both local and international surgical meetings.

At the Professional Services Centre, Mr Sammut provides specialist assessment and management of a range of general surgical, colorectal and gastrointestinal conditions, with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, appropriate investigation and individualised patient care.
